If you don't live in a house with a yard, it can be easy to dismiss flower bulbs as something you could never use. On the contrary: bulbs are great for container gardens and little indoor centerpieces. The folks at Longfield Farms offer a wide selection of bulbs, as well as a how-to section to help walk you through the process.
Name: Jennifer Pfau
Launch date: We had worked in the bulb industry for more than 20 years when we decided to start Longfield Gardens in 2008. In 2011 we opened our virtual doors direct to consumers via our online store where we sell spring- and fall-planted flower bulbs, perennials and winter indoor bulbs, like amaryllis and paperwhites.
Inspiration for opening: We want to bring the beauty and delight of flower bulbs into every home. With over 80 years of combined experience in the bulb industry, we noticed gardeners were missing a place where they could find premium-sized bulbs, strong customer service and transparent pricing.
Merchandise source: We are one of America’s top importers of quality flower bulbs and perennials from Holland, the center of the world’s bulb production. We also source specific products from the United States, United Kingdom, Costa Rica and Israel. When sourcing, we look for quality, strong varieties and unique plants.
Best selling item: Dahlias are one of the most popular bulbs in the spring because they have more blooms per bulb and the color selection is endless! Plus we have a new border gallery dahlia that is very popular.
Your favorite item: I have so many favorites, it’s hard to choose! I love certain varieties for their unique colors, others for their big blooms and others still as cut flowers. This winter, amaryllis Lagoon stole my heart as my favorite indoor bulb. The bloom is HUGE, 8” across, and the petals look like they were brushed with shimmering paint. The color and size are showstoppers!
Favorite store (other than your own): I like Arhaus for home and garden décor and West Elm is great for creative inspiration. I also love Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn kids. They have excellent ideas to get kids into the garden!

"We founded Longfield Gardens on the idea of a fresh new approach to selling bulbs. We saw a need to 'update' the way gardeners look at and buy bulbs so we combined our passion, along with over 80 years of combined experience in the bulb industry to bring you the best bulb, at the best price. Over the years, our solid business model and core values have transformed the way bulbs are sold."
