Since the introduction of Maude Décor’s distinctive hand-painted canvas rugs in 2002, the studio has been approached with custom requests of every variety. Having re-invigorated an age old tradition with fresh infusions of energy and color, Baun was quickly recognized as versatile and gifted in her ability to creatively bridge both context and medium.
Patricia Baun started selling her signature hand-painted canvas rugs in 2002, and has continued designing collection after collection ever since. They've drawn the attention of Dwell, Elle Decor, Interior Design, Metropolitan Home, and numerous Canadian magazines. One look at the Maude Decor website makes it easy to see why. These are not your traditional floorcloths. These are pieces of art for your floors.
The modern geometric designs are hand-painted on durable, heavy cotton canvas. With three layers of pigment and then three layers of sealer, the rugs are fade-resistant, stain-resistant, and water-resistant.
The weight of the heavy canvas rugs -- as well as their non-skid pads or backing -- means they mold to your floor rather than slipping and sliding. Talk about kid-, pet-, and clumsy people-friendly.
Prices start at about $50 (Canadian) per square foot.
Maude Decor will customize colors, size, and design.
Designs can also be adapted to custom-made hand-knotted wool, silk, or flax rugs, as well as limited edition archival prints, custom room dividers, and headboards.
