Located in the River North hotbed of design stores, Modernica fills a niche by manufacturing and retailing very high-quality renditions of classic designs at relatively "reachable" prices.
We've been familiar with Modernica for years, since wandering into their LA shop in the mid-nineties.
Modernica invokes strong reactions - a passionate thread that touched on intellectual property, affordability, accessibility and design was sparked by the AT-NY store review.

A sampling of what is available at Modernica (pictured):
Customizable fiberglass arm chairs ($299.-$515.),Customizable case study shelving (as shown, $1995.), Noguchi replica side table ($465.), Case study fastback bed ($1595.), Case study stainless sunshade and chaise($1495./1595.), Case study day bed ($1595.), Medium pear lamp on stand ($384.) and Mini wire table ($99.).
They offer an impressive selection of books (that we'd love to own) as well.

Nomade Express Slee...
I absolutely love this place. Coincidentally, I'll be picking up a couple wire-base tables next week.
This place rocks. It's not pretentious, it has all the classics and the staff is very friendly and approachable and the prices for some items are slightly less than DWR.
