I am flat out thrilled to introduce you to my favorite home and accessories store in Seattle: Watson Kennedy Fine Living. I feel like a kid in a candy shop every time I walk in the door. Exotic soaps, lush table linens, lavish teas, and stunning glassware fill every last inch of space.Owner Ted Kennedy Watson proved kind enough to let me snoop around and snap a few photos. I must say the pictures do not do the shop justice! Every nook and cranny is filled with trinkets of all sizes. One could spend hours and never get board perusing the lovely product. The store carries everything from one of a kind antiques to tiny oddities. It’s hard to pick just one favorite product, but I would have to say mine is the opalescent glasses that come in various colors. A close second goes to artwork by Hugo Guinness. Watson Kennedy is one of only three locations to sell his pieces.
The store has steadily expanded in popularity since opening its doors in 2001. Ted attributes his success to word of mouth and his dedication to providing various price points for every shopper. If you ask me, the accomplishment of the store has to do with Ted’s kind demeanor and gentle sense of humor. I feel like a friend, not a customer the minute I walk in the doors.
Watson Kennedy hopes to expand to the New York market soon but for now they have three Seattle area stores you can visit. I am happy to announce the first and spring location is knocking down its walls to expand. This means it will now take me hours to check out all of the amazing goods the shop has to offer. If you are interested in learning more head on over to the Watson Kennedy website
or check out Ted’s personal blog
On a final note, if you’re lucky enough you might get a glimpse of the elusive second owner. He happens to be Ted’s pup. You will frequently find the terrier curled up on a blanket behind the counter. Say his name and he might just open one eye to make sure you're not talking bad about him!
