Inspiration for The idea for Twofold came when I was living in Tokyo in 2007 – 2008. I loved discovering Japanese designers who are making contemporary textiles with respect for old Japanese textile-making traditions. These designers are largely inaccessible to people outside of Japan so the original idea was to sell contemporary Japanese textiles to an international market. The concept then expanded to include textile designers from all over the world.
Merchandise These are mostly designers that I've discovered in my travels. I'm from Australia but I've lived in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney and now Colorado. I love exploring independent boutiques and discovering local designers in different cities.
Best selling My best selling items are the Arrow Feathers scarf from NUNO, the Azuma bag from Kyototo and the one-of-a kind “oya” scarves from Rumisu. NUNO is renowned in the world of textile design — their textiles are part of MOMA's permanent collection; Kyototo is a young Japanese company reinventing traditional Japanese products; and Rumisu’s scarves are embellished with traditional Turkish embroidery.
Your favorite It's impossible for me to select a favorite – it would be like choosing a favorite child! At the moment, my daughters and I enjoy snuggling up on the couch with the hand-woven City Wall throw from Suki Cheema. On the home-decor front, I also love the round cushions from Niki Jones – a great alternative to standard square cushions!
Favorite store (other than your own): My all-time favorite store for fashion, accessories and home goods is now sadly closed — Takashimaya New York, which was located on 5th Avenue in midtown Manhattan, had a spectacular selection of beautiful, handcrafted products. In New York, I also love Zero + Maria Cornejo for fashion and, of course, ABC Carpet & Home for homewares.
