Sometimes you have to leave your home to really appreciate it. Such was the case for Namie, co-owner, along with her husband, Michael, of webshop Monosquare. Namie came to the US from Japan in 2000 and on her frequent trips back she gained an great appreciation for the beauty and artistry of products coming from local craftsmen and designers. When Boston native Sabrina Bello went to work in Sweden in 2010, she immediately fell in love with Scandinavian design. Shortly thereafter Sabrina noticed that many of the designs she loved were not available in the US. Intent to make the best of Scandinavian design available to the US market, Sabrina launched Son & Dotter in September 2012. More
After hearing how hospitals in Sweden were using a unique cloth to clean with water rather than traditional chemical cleaners, UK designer Steve Pearson was inspired to create a version of his own.
