Our friend, Charlie Suisman, over at MUG just asked if we'd give a boost to a petition they've started that seeks to ban plastic bag use in the city. Why? Plastic grocery bags are useful for minutes and harmful for centuries, AND there are other solutions. We totally support this type of thing. Check out the petition they've started as well as the links to good resources on the subject. Ban The Bag at Change.org, Created by MUG

There are places you go when you travel far from home that feel like home, or, to be more precise, you WISH were your home. And when I'm in places like this I always take notes and try to bring back new ideas for my own home (or my fantasy home one day). Here are a few pics of a trip we took to Mustique, courtesy of a friend's family, which is one of those special places.

What: Blue & White FEZ Cement tile
Source: Granada Tile
Where: Intelligentsia Coffee, Silverlake, LA
Why: This has got to be one of the most stunning uses of tile we've ever seen. It totally transforms the space and gives a cheery, almost otherworldy feeling to the space. Designed by Barbara Bestor for Intelligentsia, she obviously sourced this tile carefully. We first ran this post in 2008 when we didn't know the source and it collected a ton of comments.
Welcome everyone to our new weekly video series in which we will attempt to bring posts to life and share with you the people that we've been meeting behind the scenes. Click on the video above and let me introduce to you our new season.... it's like Downton Abbey crossed with Smash and Mad Men... :-) (Thanks to Daniel Kluger for composing the music!)
Hey everyone, we're ready to throw open the doors of a super cool new feature - a classifieds system built just for all of you to buy and sell your home-stuff easily and locally. It will accomodate every city in the world. We'll be pulling all of our future Scavenger Posts from these classifeds, so it will be a visible and fast moving marketplace to help you all turn your clutter into cash. >> Click in to check out your city and sell your stuff.
For our first Maker video, I'd like to introduce an old friend, John Gleeson Connolly, who has a long resume, but needs no introduction. He speaks for himself and represents just the type of masterful, imaginative, skillful folk that we will be featuring in our new weekly videos. He will be bringing us highlights such as How to Make a Pirate Key, How to Make a Cypher Wheel, and How to Make a Mosaic Table. Check back on Wednesday as he teaches us How to Make a Hammered Light. More of his work can be seen here!
Wow, folks... well it's challenging to see an upside among all your comments, but I am glad that you care so much. The idea for this column came from the fact that since day one, we've always done some off topic and even weird stuff that works into the personal life of the home AND I really loved meeting Evie and hearing all of her frank answers to sticky questions. I want you all to know that you are all HEARD, loud and clear, and I'll definitely think about where we take this weekend column in the future. We don't want to turn people off, but we do want to stretch the boundaries of how we cover the life of our home. Thanks again so much for all of your comments. There are some really memorable zingers in there. :-)
Best, Maxwell
Q. Why does my partner watch porn? We have a passionate sex life...I don't understand why I'm not enough...
Welcome to a new weekly column by the our own, super experienced professional in this home area, Evie Cohen. FYI, she is also a grandmother, so she's seen a lot.
A. The content of pornographic movies and books is self-centered sex unhindered by love or romance. It allows your partner to feel released to experience pure pleasure.
Children's nurseries were never viewed the same again, after Where the Wild Things Are was published in 1963. As a proud Max myself, and a lover of all his books, along with many others here at Apartment Therapy, we salute Maurice Sendak, his life and work. Here are some Sendak-related posts from our archives over the years:

This morning the fields opened up in Brimfield, Mass for the first day of the Spring Brimfield Antiques Show. Many people we know headed up yesterday with U-hauls and mini vans and are there today. We'd love to hear about what you see and find. Fill up the comments and give us your links!
I've been working hard on the "back 40" of our place out in the country - a garden about twenty yards from the house that I'm slowly making into a destination and a series of outdoor rooms where you can hang out all evening under the summer stars. This Saturday, my friend, Chris Gauger, and I put up the garden yurt…
