Shaw's Original Fir...
The pink kitchen just screams Barbie's Dream Home...
These are all FANTASTIC! Love the pink. It made me think of an easy-bake-oven, but Norahl is right. It's really Barbie's Dream House. (Go ahead Disney, sue us!) Really like the yellow one. And the photo of the woman with the bowl in the green kitchen, you could write a novel based on that image! Very nice stuff.
All are refreshingly wonderful. Agree with all the above . . .
I don't even like pink, but I love that pink kitchen.
While I don't like any of these kitchen designs, this is still a helpful post.
I cook a lot. My kitchen sees a lot of hard use. While a cherry cabinet/granite counter/subway tile kitchen is wildly unappealing, these designs are too. Formica or butcher block counters may not be terribly fashionable, but they're easy to clean and easy to work with. The cabinets I dream of are metal done up in white enamel paint, because it's easy to clean, shows dirt well and very sturdy. And I like square tiles and especially hand laid tile... if I'm going to spend good money on tile, it had better be pretty. Other equilateral shapes are good too, since I love old hexagonal or other regularly tiled floors. But rectangles? Ew.
My kitchen is heavily accented with red, but that red kitchen just makes me twitch. Red cabinets feel like they'd be much too much with my red painted walls and dark galley kitchen. And I love the shade of aqua used in the aqua kitchen, but it also makes me twitch.
I just don't think I can get on board with these kitchens. None look cheap and their not ugly,it's just too much. What happens when you don't love the color anymore, just rip out everything and start over. Although, I would love painted cabinets in my kitchen my spouse refuses to paint wood and holds over my head the one poor choice in color I chose for the bathroom and he had to help repaint.
I think these are gorgeous - but they'd date very quickly, when one hue starts looking a little over. (Think 1970s avocado and sunflower, for instance.) But I like the pictures!
I'm a boy but I must admit the pink kitchen is my favorite! Not for me, but I love it.
I LOVE the yellow cabinet fronts that you could just paint to sell. That is genius!
I LOVE the sunny yellow and that sea foam green...although that deep blue is just stunning, too.
I think the people who make these design decisions are the sort of people who don't fall in and out of certain colors...it's a look, a feel, that's a lot more personal than just your favorite color. If you've got the guts and the brains, I say go for it!
These are all a bit to much for me personally, but holy god are they leaps better than the insanely bland Ikea remodels that always end up on this site.
Lavender is my favorite color and very hesitant to use it as a color for my kitchen because it might not look nice. But after seeing this, it really looks great! I will definitely use this for color when I renovate my kitchen. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Torrilin,
I have lived in a house with the flat slab doors of metal cabinetry painted in white enamel and you are right they are super easy to clean and very sturdy. You might want to check out Pam Kueber called Retro renovation. http://retrorenovation.com/category/kitchen/
She features lots of metal cabinets and has a forum for finding these vintage cabinets and cabinet parts. She also has lots of great advertisements from the cabinet manufacturers. Here is an image of her kitchen http://retrorenovatio.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/copyright-retro-renovation-may-not-be-used-without-written-permission1.jpg
I also am fine with Formica counters as long as they are not around the sink area. I like the the no drip edge and their ease of care. Keep in mind when you do your kitchen tile that for ease of cleaning it is best to have a painted tile rather then one in relief with its indents or raised design that you will have to clean out with a toothbrush rather than a flat sponge. Try to stay neutral so you won't get sick of it.
I like looking at these colorful kitchens and some of the flat front door and drawer fronts look like they would be super easy to clean and keep clean. While I love color I would do the dreaded cherry shaker cabinet but run them all the way up the wall to the ceiling. The drawers would be inset with flat front with white subway tile and black granite because I know it would stay classic and not end up in the landfill. I can add color and pattern through my dish cloths and roman blinds.
The turquoise-y one withe the stained chandelier is my favorite.
What I really wish is that colorful appliances like stoves and refrigerators did not cost so much damn money because that is a great way to being color into a kitchen if you do not want to do it with cabinetry.
I came across this post searching for a way to lessen the grossness of the pink kitchen in the place I'm thinking of buying until the funds are available to resurface all of it. Do not put a pink kitchen in unless you are planning to live there until you die.. Most people are taking one look at this apartment and leaving because the idea of spending one more second looking at pink melamine cabinets and a maroon/purple mottled faux granite laminate counter is making their eyes bleed. Don't do it.
