How To Install a Door Pull the Right Way
While adding a pull can seem like a minor home project, if not done correctly, it can quickly make your head ache. I have drilled pilot holes in the wrong place, made them too big, too small, jammed hardware in the door, broken hardware in half, cracked knobs, and lucky me, ruined fresh paint in the process. Follow these simple steps to learn from my mistakes.

10 (Pretty) Humidifiers You Can Live With
I returned from Costa Rica this morning and was immediately struck by the dry air in New England. My skin felt tight and the air felt less than easy to inhale. When I returned home I turned my humidifier to ‘full blast’ in my bedroom. Mine is not much to look at but it sure does work well, so it got me thinking, are there well designed units out there? Why yes, yes of course!

Shower Curtains: Long or Short?
A while back I blogged about fabric vs. plastic shower curtain liners. Maybe I am over thinking the bathroom, but recently a related subject came up while chatting with a friend– how long is a shower curtain supposed to hang?In my opinion, shower curtains should never touch the floor, or be as close as shown in the photo above. In general, bathrooms are small damp rooms so the area should remain fairly sterile, clutter free, and light on fabric.

How To Determine A Fair Rental Price
This subject has been on my mind lately as I wrap up a renovation in the second apartment of the home I bought last year. I am preparing to put the apartment on the rental market within the next few weeks and have been thinking about the best way to price it.What not to do is take your actual monthly mortgage plus expenses such as yard maintenance, and charge half of that cost to a future tenant (assuming the space is comparable.

Shower Curtain Liners: Fabric or Plastic?
I’ve been using a white fabric curtain liner for a while. I throw it in the wash every six weeks or so and bleach it mercilessly so it stays clean, but lately I’ve noticed that water is making its way out of the shower and onto the floor.I have tried the “mold resistant” plastic liners but they never stand up to their name and it takes longer for a plastic liner to dry which means more moisture in the bathroom.

How To Rejuvenate Your Sweaters
We talk a lot about organizing and keeping things tidy. While it’s satisfying to clean your bedroom closet, it’s extra satisfying to to repair any damaged contents within that closet. I had the chance to clean my bedroom closet last week and took the time to polish my shoes, sew some missing buttons on a few blouses, and rejuvenate my sweaters. Properly taking care of the things you have just feels good and gives you new things to wear without spending cash.
