Describe your space:
Our house evolved out of a desire to live more simply, with less stuff and more time for life and each other. We wanted the space to be functional above all but also homely and a tad luxurious. For functionality, we spent a lot of time designing clever storage and fitting in all the practical elements of a normal home (washing machine, dishwasher, oven, stove, shower, toilet, two sinks, stairs, bed, guest bed, sofa, dining booth and a bath!). While fitting all this into 248 square feet, we also wanted the space to remain calm and uncluttered. The best part is it moves with us wherever we go!
Did you DIY anything in your space? And, if so, what's your favorite DIY?
The entire house is a DIY project! Apart from electricity and plumbing, we built everything ourselves. My favorite DIY element is our custom built multipurpose sofa. It was built to serve multiple functions being primarily our couch, it also morphs into a queen size guest bed, then a dining booth to seat six guests, and is simultaneously a large storage unit.
What's your favorite product that you bought for your space and where did it come from?
One of my favorite products is my carved wooden dinner set from Muji.
What inspires you?
Inspiration comes from everywhere, but in designing this house in particular I used resources such as Pinterest and Instagram. Instagram in particular has been integral, as the tiny house community is very supporting and full of great ideas, tips, and inspiration.
