When robot vacuums first started gaining popularity, I thought I would never buy one. They were pretty expensive, missed dustballs tucked away in corners and crevices, and had a tendency to throw themselves down the stairs. Fast forward a decade, and they’re more affordable, more efficient, and much less likely to take a tumble. I finally bought one (which happens to be tidying up my living room as I write), and the only downside is that I’ve had to admit it’s actually better at vacuuming than I am. So yes, robot vacuums are worth the hype!

Finding the one that’s right for you can be a challenge since there are so many to choose from. ECOVACS has been a pioneer in the industry and continues to be at the forefront of the robot vacuum revolution. They launched way before the concept of a smart home even existed, and their ECOVACS DEEBOT robot vacuums are some of the most sophisticated on the market. They’re also the top brand in the U.S. for robotic helpers that can both vacuum and mop — so technically, one of these little guys could cross two chores off your weekly to-do list!

We took a look at four of their newest models, all of which can vacuum, mop, and seriously simplify your weekly cleaning routine.

Perfect for Big, High-Traffic Spaces

Let’s start with the newest model, the DEEBOT T8. This little helper vacuums and mops in one go and has some seriously smart software. It automatically maps your floor plan as it cleans with four times the accuracy and twice the coverage of standard laser mapping technology used in most robot vacuums on the market. Using the app, you can set up virtual boundaries or tell it to focus on just one area of your home. It also has 3D advanced object detection, which helps it avoid tricky items like cables or slippers and lets it detect objects with millimeter-level accuracy.

Carpet detection allows the DEEBOT T8 to intelligently avoid carpets (even at night!) when mopping and double its suction power while vacuuming them for a deeper clean. It’s self-charging and also compatible with add-ons like DEEBOT’s Auto-Empty Station and the OZMO™ PRO Mopping System, which uses high-frequency vibration to tackle stubborn stains or spills. With the auto-empty station, you’ll enjoy up to 30 days of hands-free cleaning before it’s time to empty the dust bin.

Perfect for Smart Homes

In terms of performance, the DEEBOT T8 AIVI is very similar to the T8, but it has one extra-special feature: an HD camera. In addition to helping it recognize and remember which objects to avoid, the AIVI’s camera technology is a really big plus for pet parents who’d like a way to check in on their pets while they’re home alone, or anyone who’d like a way to remotely monitor their home. You can access a live stream of the AIVI’s camera at any time via the app, and even tell it where to go! Like the T8, it’s also compatible with DEEBOT’s Auto-Empty Station and the OZMO™ PRO Mopping System for added automation and efficiency.

Perfect for Small Spaces

If you don’t need all the bells and whistles DEEBOT’s newest models have to offer, consider the DEEBOT T5. It’s a powerful vacuum and mop in one, with smart laser mapping and navigation. One great aspect all of these models have in common is that they can map and save multiple room layouts, so they’ll always remember how to navigate each space in your home. Like the DEEBOT T8 and DEEBOT T8 AIVI, the DEEBOT T5 is also compatible with Google Home and Amazon Echo.

Perfect for Pet Owners

The DEEBOT U2 PRO is a solid entry-level robot vacuum and mop that’s also especially great for pet owners. It features an extra-large dust bin so it can hold plenty of pet hair before it needs to be emptied, and a triple-layer filtration system to trap dirt and dust. Plus, its silicone brush is designed to be tangle-free, so it can tackle pet hair without any trouble. Once fully charged and filled with water, the DEEBOT U2 PRO can vacuum and mop up to 2,000 square feet in one go. One advantage it has over similarly-priced robot vacuums and mops on the market is that it has a hard floor mode, which lets it vacuum and mop hard surfaces systematically in a back and forth movement instead of randomly.

One thing all of DEEBOT’s robot vacuum/mop combos have in common is that they’ll undoubtedly simplify your cleaning routine, help you clean more frequently, and free up extra time. Since you can schedule them to do all the dirty work while you work, sleep, or spend time with family, there’s no reason why you can’t ramp up your cleaning routine to vacuum and mop multiple times a week, or even daily. Whichever one you choose, it’ll be a great investment for your home (and your schedule) that you’ll appreciate for years to come.
