To show how these natural materials bring new life to a space, we challenged two design experts to tile the rooms of their dreams. See how they used similar materials to express their own styles, then get inspired to start thinking of your bathroom or kitchen refresh!

A Retro Eclectic Color Scheme

Audrey Sprinkle loves to use bold colors to make a statement, and her style leans into all things vintage and eclectic. That’s clear in her black and white flooring choices for her retro-inspired kitchen. Her combo of Monet nero marquina and white carrara is a smart update to a classic chef’s kitchen look, finished with oriental white squares for a handsome backsplash.

“I was immediately drawn to the Monet tile because its shape and color reminded me of a Swiss Cross, which I love for its simplicity and boldness,” Audrey says. “This led me down the retro esthetic path because I think a lot of the design elements of the ’40s and ’50s are simple and yet bold.”

To complete her look, Audrey chose green cabinets with bronze hardware to pair with black wall sconces. “I tried to pull the tile throughout the space by mirroring that pattern in the cabinet knobs,” she says, “as well as using the secondary tile color in the backsplash and a bold black wall sconce for above the sink to pull the eye up.” Her vintage fridge looks like it came right out of 1955, while a handwoven rug keeps the space grounded in the present.

A Modern Minimalist Palette

Meg Leonard is a designer who uses her love of high-end materials and affordable finds to help her clients create attainable, happy homes. Her vision took the form of a dreamy bathroom, with a floor tiled in white carrara and bardiglio Celeste marble blend. To give the walls a clean and tasteful look, Meg chose a slender Monet tile in oriental white.

“Each colorway is stunning in this design, making it flexible to any space or style,” Meg says. “They can stand out as the hero in the space with a bright paint choice, or be a beautiful feature in a neutral bathroom.”

She accentuates the Celeste’s geometric patterns with a classically-minded scalloped mirror and porcelain tray, both in gold finish. The wicker wrapped vase and hamper, as well as wooden step stool, continue the theme of natural materials, and a rosy hand towel completes the serene space.
