A house with a sizable basement is perhaps high on the list of “nice to haves” for home buyers. But when the entire house is a basement? Well, that might be a different story.

Hitting the market in Deer Creek, Illinois for $35,000 is a two-bedroom, single-bath home on a large corner lot with all kinds of charming amenities, including brick interiors and a separate shed for extra storage space. But it’s almost entirely underground, which some Zillow Gone Wild commenters noted is perfect for severe weather events or perhaps as an emergency bunker situation.

“When a serial killer designs their dream home,” joked one person. Another paid homage to “The Silence of the Lambs”, adding: “Where do you suppose the lotion basket is kept?” Another wrote: “It’s the little bay window for me.” Yet another asked: “is this the bunker from ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt?’”

“Well, I guess you don’t have to take cover during a tornado warning? 🤷‍♀️” added one commenter, while another noted: “The only thing lower than the price is the roof.”

Twitter users were equally enthused by the home, with one writing, “I was prepared to hate it, but it’s actually kind of an average modest home on the inside. Personally, I prefer more natural light but, hey, with the way things are going we’ll all be living underground soon.”

All jokes aside, the home clearly garnered tons of interest, pending a sale within one day of being posted. Others on Twitter noted that the neighborhood itself is nice. So even if it’s a bit unconventional, there’s a home out there to fit everyone’s needs and preferences, and when a tornado comes through, these buyers are sure to be the envy of everyone on the block.
