This Popular Weighted Blanket Brand Just Launched a New Body Pillow and It’s Completely Transformed the Way I Sleep
I first heard of Bearaby last year when my then-coworker was raving about Bearaby’s chic (and now immensely popular) weighted blankets. When I heard that Bearaby was adding a new product to their collection, I knew that I had to try it for myself. The Cuddler, which launched today, is a body pillow made out of plant-based Melofoam. It was designed specifically for side sleepers, those who experience back, neck, or joint pain or discomfort, and pregnant people. I tick the first two out of those three boxes and have been hunting for a pillow that’ll help bring my tight and knotted back into alignment.
I have never been a flexible person, but my sedentary lifestyle during the pandemic wreaked havoc on my back — so much so that I go to Stretch*d twice a month to loosen my muscles up. Mornings are when my spine feels the stiffest, so I figured the tossing and turning and bad sleep positions each night were probably one of culprits. I had tried resting a throw pillow underneath my knee to keep my hips even, but it wasn’t supportive enough.
By contrast, the Cuddler is the perfect mix of squishy and supportive, thanks to its ergonomic design. It doesn’t feel so soft that my knee is sinking to the mattress in the middle of night, defeating the purpose of using the pillow in the first place, or so firm that I am uncomfortable and unable to sleep. The Cuddler comes with a removable and breathable 100% cotton cover.
What I love best about this body pillow, though, is that you can tie it into a knot. The body pillow in its long shape is a little too big for my full-size bed, which I share with my boyfriend. Until we upgrade to a bigger bed (and perhaps a larger apartment), this pillow is knotted. Just a note that knotting it is a little bit of a struggle at first, but now I can easily knot it if it becomes undone. In its knotted position, it doesn’t take up any extra space. It did take a few nights to get used to sleeping with it, though.
After using the body pillow for a week, I did notice a difference in my spine and hips. I didn’t feel as stiff and tense (even my Stretch*r noticed). I also feel more well-rested. The pillow has become so comforting, I even use it when I watch TV or read — I unknot it to its full form to prop up my head or arm while laying down. Although it is a little pricey, I think it’s well worth it if you toss and turn or struggle to get the proper support for your hips.
