I can’t believe we’re here at last – we’ve finally (after nine years–eek!) finished renovating and decorating the last room in our little Cape Cod home! We saved our own room for last, of course. The kids’ rooms have been beautiful for years, the first floor is completely redone, but our own space has been plain-Jane for as long as I can remember. Luckily, I believe that I can say with certainty that our boudoir is plain no longer:

I am absolutely beyond-thrilled, head-over-heels for this space. I have been wanting to take the plunge and punch this room up for the longest time, but I was really having trouble figuring out what direction to go. It’s always helped me to be able to picture how a space will look before jumping in head-first with paint. We’ve definitely gone through our share of wasted paint cans and money trying to figure out the right color for each room in our house, and we’ve learned our lesson.

This time, I tried out the Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap® Visualizer for web to test out a few colors before starting and it made a huge difference! It also gave me the confidence to go with one of the boldest paint colors that we’ve chosen in our home to date. I was a little bit nervous at first, but I’m SO happy we chose this color. The room isn’t large and I was worried that a vivid color might make it feel too small. This tool helped me to get the bold look that I was craving without sacrificing the light, airy feeling that I love. The room somehow feels bright, happy, and striking without being overwhelming. The color is called SW 6458 Restful and I feel like it’s the absolute perfect color for the room. It makes my heart sing!

I also have to give a shout-out to my awesome husband and father-in-law who built the new headboard for me using some scrap wood and a little know-how, and to my dad for installing some amazing new sconces for us! And last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to all of you for helping me to choose the right color for our space!
