These Are the Most Popular Paint Colors, According to Benjamin Moore
The last two years have been all about finding comfort and tranquility at home, and judging from Benjamin Moore’s bestselling color, it looks like the sentiment will continue in 2022.
Aegean Teal, which was also named as the brand’s 2021 Color of the Year, is a combination of blue-green and gray, resulting in a mid-tone that evokes harmony and relaxation. Helen Shaw, the brand’s UK Director, describes it as “a balanced and soothing hue, softened with a touch of grey to create spaces with a casual elegance.”
The creatives at Benjamin Moore picked Aegean Teal as their favorite even before the start of the pandemic, unaware that coming events would also make it a favorite among customers.
“It was a hidden gem in our collection. We fell in love with it for its depth, complexity, and versatility,” Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore’s Director of Color, told Elle Décor. “It has a softened, casual elegance that is really inviting. You can use it in so many different ways in the home.”
Now, two years later, the color is still popular, thanks to its ability to uplift one’s mood.
“Amid uncertainty, people yearn for stability,” Magno said. “The colors we surround ourselves with can have a powerful impact on our emotions and well-being. As the events of 2020 unfolded, we felt strongly that this color continued to resonate in the home, possibly more so as the importance and expectations of the home reached new levels.”
Magno concluded, “As things continue to evolve, we see this color continuing to grow in relevance and importance as we shift our mindset, and our spaces, and look toward the future.”
