Here’s How You Can Snag Some Vintage Disneyland Memorabilia
Everyone loves Disney, right? It’s been around since we were all kids and we grew up with the movies and TV shows. There’s no denying that The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King are more classic than the older films, like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. You might think you’re a big Disney fan because you love the movies, but anyone who has been to a Disney park knows that park goers are another level of fans.
Disneyland was Walt Disney’s dream for the world. When you walk into any Disney park, you’ll find the plaque with Walt’s famous quote – “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.” Disneyland first opened in 1955 and back then, tickets only cost $1! Park goers back then had to pay 10 to 30 cents per ride. That’s very cheap compared to the $97 to $135 daily cost to get into Disneyland in Anaheim, California nowadays. Better not go during peak season!
Since Disneyland opened over 60 years ago, several other parks have opened up across the globe, including Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, Tokyo Disney Resort in Tokyo, Japan, Disneyland Paris in Paris, France, Hong Kong Disneyland in Hong Kong, China, and Shanghai Disney Resort in Pudong, Shanghai, China. If you’re lucky enough to have traveled to one, two, or all of the Disney parks, you know they’re all beautiful and magical. However, Disneyland might hold a special place in the hearts of many Disney fanatics.
Why else would people be willing to spend thousands of dollars on old Disney memorabilia? Disneyland is the only park that was open during Walt Disney’s life. Walt passed away before Walt Disney World had a chance to open, so many people feel that while Disney World was Walt’s “ultimate dream,” Disneyland has more of his vision and style.
If you’re interested in buying some old Disneyland memorabilia, you can check out Van Eaton Galleries’s ‘That’s From Disneyland’ online auction. And if you happen to live in the area of Sherman Oaks, California, stop by the pop-up store that is auctioning off collector and agent Richard Kraft’s entire stash this Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26. A portion of the proceeds are going to the Coffin-Siris Syndrome Foundation and CHIME Institute For Early Education.

Pirates of the Caribbean became such a popular attraction in Disneyland, it inspired the film franchise starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. The attraction first opened in 1967 and still runs to this day – though Disneyland passholders know the ride does often malfunction and close throughout the year. This entryway sign is currently up for bid at $4,000.
