It’s no surprise hashtags and Instagram accounts dedicated to “cabin porn” are so popular; who doesn’t dream of a simple life tucked away in a cozy cabin in the woods? The actual cabin life isn’t available (or practical) for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get inspiration from those who dig the cabin lifestyle.
Below, find an array of woodsy cabins and cute cottages sure to warm you up on even the coldest winter day. And to prove that you can achieve a cabin-like look just about anywhere, at the bottom of the post you’ll find a few homes that aren’t anywhere near the woods (one’s an urban condo!) but are rocking those cozy cabin vibes anyway.
7 incredibly cozy cabins
I’ll admit: I’m using the definition of “cabin” pretty liberally. Yes, some of the cabins below are tiny homes in the woods (dream life!), but others are much larger than what you might personally consider a cabin. However, what they all have in common is that they master a mix of minimal, modern decor elements with more traditional elements—creating beautiful, contemporary spaces that are relaxing retreats from a hectic world.
5 insanely adorable cottages
Something about the word “cottage” just makes me think about compact little homes that have everything you need and not a thing more. I imagine folks who live in cottages living a slower version of life, one where connections with people are favored over “things.” This very likely isn’t true across the board, but it’s a nice thought, isn’t it? And it seems like the five homes below sure come close to that cottage ideal:
4 homes that are neither cabins nor cottages, but come close, design-wise
I wanted to include the four homes below because I think they’re important reminders that you don’t have to be living in your ultimate dream home…you can transform the home you do have into something that comes close. These four homes aren’t technically cabins or cottages, but they each have a lot of wood decor elements, and they all have a simple, beautiful warmth to them. A couple are in rural areas, and one is smack-dab in the middle of a city. But we’d cuddle up in any of them.
