Describe your space:

When we moved to the Arava five and a half years ago, we decided to renovate an old shed and storage room outside my husband’s parents' farm and turn it into a two-bedroom apartment. The idea was to live there for two or three years while we plan and build our dream home. That took longer than we thought, so with a tiny budget and creativity, we decided to give our house a stylish makeover. We used mostly paint tricks, DIY, and tried to upgrade and reuse what we already had. We love the result and are glad we did this "test run" for our dream home, which we will soon move into.

Did you DIY anything in your space? And, if so, what's your favorite DIY?

I did a lot of DIY, from small hacks to upgrading plain IKEA furniture we've had forever, to sewing cushions for the dining stools, creating costume art pieces for the gallery [wall], and even designing two light fixtures. My favorite piece is the light hanging over the blue couch, which is made from a plastic bottle and thread.

What's your favorite product that you bought for your space and where did it come from?

My favorite item is the wall jewelry hanging by the TV. It's made from brass sheets and designed by my designer friend Lital Dayee. It's a true conversation piece.

What inspires you?

The desert around me. From dreamy sunsets full of colors to mighty flash floods and dusty sandstorms, the desert is powerful and requires respect. But if you learn to live in it despite all the challenges, you can grow and thrive.
