Describe your space:

I wanted my home to be a calm haven with a vacation vibe, so I created a two-toned main living area to provide a sense of flow in spite of the small footprint. I especially love that the blue accent wall connects with the view outside and pulls in the sky. Clever storage throughout the apartment, like IKEA cabinets that conceal art supplies (finished with brass knobs found online), a vintage china cabinet that hides kitchenware, baskets for exercise equipment, and skirted shelving for bathroom necessities keep the space functional, yet light and airy.

Did you DIY anything in your space? And, if so, what's your favorite DIY?

I love a good DIY. The lampshades on the credenza I covered in scraps of designer wallpaper, and trimmed out the interior with fabric found on Amazon. The tassels on the credenza drawers are off of a party garland I found at a craft store, and I scored the credenza itself on eBay and refinished it. The dining chair cushions were sewn with a family member, and the decorative couch pillows are pieced out of fabric scraps sourced on Etsy.

What's your favorite product that you bought for your space and where did it come from?

Many of the blue and white ceramics come from trips to different countries. I collect a memento each time I travel—favorites include a vase from Greece, gourd vessel from China, and an antique calligraphy brush holder found in the souks of Marrakesh. Each piece holds so many memories—it's like having a three-dimensional travel album.

What inspires you?

Since I'm in a small space in a busy city, the contrast in my own home with blues and greens from nature against the hectic city outside is wonderfully soothing. I also love having decorative elements that are meaningful to me, from items that have been passed down through the family, to travel mementoes, and hand-sewn pillows.
