Describe your space:
I decided to look for a place to start staying on my own. Searched for about a month, and I landed on this baby! I saw that it had great bones and that in time I would make it my own. Since i work as an admin assistant, money was short, so I got the idea to rent out my place temporarily to make extra cash and save up. The space needed work, so I used Pinterest for my inspiration, and in 2019, I used my Pinterest ideas and created this simple but unique decor-styled home that is now home to me and many of my guests. My apartment is a hidden "gem," ideally placed on the Nalya hill.
Did you DIY anything in your space? And, if so, what's your favorite DIY?
My favorite DIY is my wine rack that holds all my wine bottles carefully placed at the corner of the living room. When I have guests over, they have a variety of bottles to choose from, and the best part is that I get to combine my love for hosting and my passion for collecting wine over the years from my travels and feature some of my most prized wines at the apartment for sale to guests.
What's your favorite product that you bought for your space and where did it come from?
My favorite product is the copper rectangle tray that I use to hold my candle, my decorative fake plant, and my remotes. It came from a local supermarket here in Kampala, Uganda, called Senana Supermarket. Keep in mind that we don't have IKEA, Walmart, CB2, Urban Outfitters, or any of the famous shopping sites/stores, so we make do with what we can either DIY or get a local carpenter to make.
What inspires you?
My love for interior design. I don't have a background in design, but I love to bring spaces back to life and give friends advice on how to decorate their own spaces. And I am a great believer in what you are not using, you should donate, give, or sell, so I try not to have too many things in my home.
