My living/dining area is a multipurpose space, since I've been working from home since March 2020. It is also my chill space, where I exercise, and my workshop/craft room space. So I need to hide everything! Behind the heron art is my mini exercise trampoline. Below the TV in a basket is a router, and underneath that, I refinished the speakers by painting them and applying a cool fabric. (Image credit: Carolina Lorenzo)

I completely renovated the kitchen by painting the cabinets and applying wood veneer. This was the first time for me so I'm very proud. Also, I knocked down a cabinet that was floor-to-ceiling long to get more light. The problem was that you could see the ugly water heater, so I invented this wood slat divider.

Years lived in: 7 years, owned

Household: My roommate, Milonga Estefanía (aka Mili when she is in a good mood, or Supervisor. She is a cat.)

Have any design professionals worked on this space? No

Do you currently live in your Small/Cool space full-time? Yes

Describe your space:

I guess my personality is very reflected in my home. Everybody that enters my apartment for the first time tells me that my home “is very you.” My zodiac signs are: sun Scorpio and rising in Cancer. So my home is a place full of secrets (for example where I hide everything — Scorpio ) and very cozy and inviting (almost like a grandma hug — Cancer) to my guests.

Did you DIY anything in your space? And, if so, what's your favorite DIY?

I DIY almost everything, especially during the locked-down moments (that were a lot). I am very proud of the petal light, and all my gallery walls (almost in every room including the bathroom), because they are beautiful and functional too.

How do you make your small space work for you and feel bigger than it really is?

Use your walls! You can disguise almost everything with a gallery wall. (Mind the colors and choose a nice color palette.) Hang everything that you can. If you know how to patch a wall, you are ready to go.

How does your home reflect you?

I have a lot of things and furniture that belonged to my grandma, my grandma's father, my father… but my main heritage I think is the love of doing things with my hands. My grandmother was a teacher, but she always was knitting, sewing, or embroidering something. And I grew up watching my dad fixing things at home (he was a lawyer during the week and our personal handyman on weekends).
