When she returned to her parents’ NYC apartment after college graduation, Dorm Therapy contributor Angie Arias saw her childhood bedroom in a brand new way — and she wanted to make some changes.

“My childhood bedroom is becoming a space that reflects this new chapter of my life,” Angie says. “Turning it into a place that reflects who I am now feels like stepping into a new version of myself.”

To create the inspiring sanctuary she envisioned, Angie headed to Bob’s Discount Furniture® in search of a bedroom set with more post-grad polish. She wanted pieces that will work right now as well as in her eventual first apartment, and Bob’s has a huge selection of high-quality options in various styles. They also specialize in furniture for small spaces, which is perfect for Angie’s current NYC digs.

“When I shop for furniture in-store, I go in with a vision board but stay open. I think about how I want the space to feel, then I build around key pieces, like the bed or dresser.”

The first thing Angie wanted to invest in was a new mattress. Shopping in-store allowed her to try multiple option at once to find her ideal “firm-to-squish ratio.” After testing out a few styles, she chose the Copper Sport Firm Mattress: It stays cool thanks to innovative copper threading, with Bob-O-Pedic Quick Response Gel Memory Foam that manages pressure relief.

After mattress testing, Angie took an ice cream break at Bob’s free cafe. (We love a store with snacks!) On her way through the store, she also spotted the chic Rayna brass table lamp in one of her favorite accent colors. But her sights were set on bedroom furniture!

Finally, Angie found her match: the Cascade 4-piece bedroom set, which comes with a bed frame, nightstand, dresser, and mirror. With its minimalist hardware, elegant rounded corners, and naturalistic reed detailing, the Cascade set has the balance of elevated and cozy that Angie was looking for. Combined with her new mattress, it makes for a bedroom befitting her next chapter.

“This bedroom set and mattress feel like the perfect match for me because they balance style and practicality,” she says. “The mattress especially makes such a difference. I really value my sleep, so having something that feels this good makes my whole routine better.”
