I’ve been obsessed with Harry Potter since school, but now that I’m getting older, the term “Potterhead” conjures something totally different: beautiful, handmade pottery. I consider myself a curator of sorts, carefully choosing functional items to add to the petite sideboard that holds my collection. When it comes to buying pottery, East Fork is, hands down, one of my favorite resources, so whenever the North Carolina-based company launches a new product or glaze, I can’t wait to click “add to cart.” And on April 18, starting at noon (ET), the brand is giving me plenty of reasons to exhaust my refresh button. They’re (re)launching one of their prettiest fan-favorite glazes: Taro is coming out of retirement.

Loyal East Fork customers will be thrilled to get reacquainted with Taro. In fact, the brand polled its social audience to see which hue should make a comeback, and Taro was the winner. The color evokes visions of juicy berries and lilacs, and if you’re a bubble tea drinker, you’ll instantly associate it with the taro root variety of the popular beverage. Since East Fork’s recent glazes have been subtle and muted, Taro feels like a burst of fresh energy and just the right backdrop for showing off your spring cooking!

As for what pieces are going to be available in Taro, you can choose from cake plates, side plates, and dinner plates; breakfast bowls; larger everyday bowls; deeper weeknight serving bowls; soup bowls, ice cream bowls; popcorn bowls; mixing bowls; and adorable bitty bowls. The dusty floral color will also grace East Fork’s most recent launch, The Coupe. And if you’re a fellow #TheMug collector, fret not, you’ll definitely get an opportunity to add Taro to your lineup.

I got my hands on a Taro-glazed mug, and I’m simply smitten. The purple is just so darn pretty, and as a longtime fan of the thoughtful design, this pairing is simply winning me over. And like all East Fork pottery, Taro is dishwasher and microwave safe, so while the pieces may look delicate, they’re incredibly durable (and even resistant to partners with butter fingers!).

Since East Fork’s ceramics are a true labor of love and handmade to order, keep in mind that they won’t ship for about eight weeks. But that means they’ll arrive just in time to enjoy the last of spring’s bounty and newly ripe summer produce. I can already picture a slice of fruit crumble or bright green salad beautifully set against Taro’s soft hue, and I’m getting hungry already.
