This Cat Tree Looks Like Actual Tree, So You Can Bring Nature Indoors
If you’re thinking about letting your cat out but also worried about their safety, here’s a suggestion: Why not just bring the outdoors indoors?
Florida-based artists Shelley and Joe Del Rocco are doing just that with their series of cat trees that look like real trees. The pieces are crafted from wood, cedar, plush carpeting, and adorned with silk leaves, mimicking the look and feel of actual trees (as opposed to other more synthetic habitats out in the market).
“Our real cat tree with leaves is designed to focus on your cat’s true nature, bringing out your cat’s primal instincts,” said the husband-and-wife duo, who started designing cat houses in 2008. “This method helps reduce captive stress and encourages your cat to stretch and scratch on the gnarled branches, bark, lichen and all.”
The pet furniture could also serve as pieces of art, not to mention as alternatives to indoor plants. With some nearly as high as six feet tall, the trees provide a canopy over your apartment, while never needing to be watered or pruned. And if you love the autumn season, you can even switch out the green leaves with bursts of red, orange, and yellow foliage.
Of course, as any pet owner would know, providing for your fur babies is never cheap. The most inexpensive tree, a DIY kit, costs $574. The most pricey ones, meanwhile, would set you back $1,199. But hey, anything for your cat, right?
