This Giant Dog Bed Lets You Take Naps with Your Furry Friend
It’s not uncommon for owners to let their dogs sleep on the bed, but now, thanks to a pair of young entrepreneurs, it won’t be an uncommon sight for owners to be sleeping in their dog’s bed too.
Vancouver-based students Noah Silverman and Yuki Kinoshita have created Plufl, a dog bed big enough to fit both the canine and its owner. It features a thick pillow border you can tuck your hands and feet into, an orthopedic memory foam for support, and a luxurious faux fur cover. Its oval shape promises to cradle you into a natural fetal sleeping position so you can fully enjoy your cat nap — or pup nap, rather.
“The Plufl is a premium napping bed engineered to provide the optimal napping experience,” the product description reads. “It is created to maximize comfort and foster a sense of security… A nap in the Plufl will boost your mood and have you feeling refreshed.”
According to Silverman and Kinoshita, they came up with the concept for Plufl after seeing their friend’s Great Dane, named Lady, cozily napping on her own custom-made giant dog bed. Being sleepless university students, the two thought, “Why should dogs have all the fun?” And so, Plufl was born.
The idea of napping in your pooch’s bed instead of the sofa might seem a bit odd, but as it turns out, a lot of people are okay with that. Plufl was able to raise $290,657 from pre-orders on Kickstarter, and has now raised over $330,222 on Indiegogo, as of writing. If you’re interested (of course you are), Plufl is available at an early-bird rate of $399, which includes a one-size-fits-all model to be shipped starting January 2023.
