Homesick Just Created the Ultimate Candle Collection for Astrology Lovers
If you’re anything like me, picking up a new candle is a favorite pastime. (There’s nothing quite like unwinding with a new scent at the end of the day.) So, to say that news of a new candle collection hitting my inbox makes my day would be an understatement. Add a touch of wonder to the mix — and that fact that it’s from one of AT’s favorite candle brands — and you’ve got me hook, line, and sinker. This is exactly what Homesick Candles did this week when it announced its latest launch: the Astrology Collection. Let’s delve into this zodiac-themed collection a bit further, shall we?
Known for its iconic city and state-inspired candles, Homesick took this same idea and applied it to the zodiac, creating 12 new scents with each candle perfectly embodying each zodiac sign. But how exactly did they do this? Well, they had a little help from the stars — and renowned astrologers, the AstroTwins, Tali and Ophira Edut. Working alongside the brand as scent consultants, the sisters had a hand in helping curate each individual candle, something that seems to have been a match made in the heavens.
“What we really loved about the Homesick approach to astrology candles is that there’s a top, a mid, and a base note, and they reveal themselves as they burn, which we thought was a real parallel to the way people are,” shared Ophira. “The [base and mid] notes might not reveal themselves right at the top, but as you burn the candle (just as you get to know a person) more and more facets of their nature, or of the candle, reveal themselves.”
And when it came to picking the actual notes per sign, Ophira explained that while some of it was based on timeliness and traits of the sign, there was a lot of thought put into aromas that would capture the essence of the personality. “Take Cancer: they have this soothing, nurturing vibe but they also need to be soothed and nurtured because they’re always giving that to everyone else. So there are soothing notes (like Iris, Water Lilies and Patchouli) that capture that energy in a candle form.”
After getting a chance to smell these candles firsthand, I can say that they really do live up to their claims. Upon opening the Cancer candle (my sun sign), I was in love. The scent is soothing and zen, making it a candle I can’t wait to burn (and one that downright flattered me by association). I also received the Aries and Aquarius candles to round out my “big three” (your “big three” in astrology consists of your sun, moon, and rising signs according to the zodiac) and was equally impressed with them. The thing that floored me the most was that the Aquarius candle immediately reminded me of my best friend — who is also an Aquarius — with a scent very reminiscent of her perfume. Y’all, these candles are scarily accurate.
Each celestial scent comes in at $34 and is exclusively available on the Homesick website, with an option to personalize with a note on the back — be it an especially accurate horoscope, a special birthday message, or an intention for the season ahead. With the holidays right around the corner, I think these candles are going to be a hot item this year.
