More than two years into the pandemic, the real estate market remains a wild ride, showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The pros at Realtor.com have shared their eighth annual Hottest ZIP Codes Report to determine the most sought-after home buying hotspots in the country, and it turns out that more buyers than ever before are looking to put down roots in New England.

The northeastern region of the U.S. represents over half of 2022’s top 10 list, with recent homes selling, on average, in just over a week (eight days), receiving nearly four times more buyer views than a typical U.S. listing. It’s clear that the historic charm of New England has buyers ready to snag their dream home in the area, with Danielle Hale, Realtor.com’s Chief Economist explaining a bit more about the allure in a statement.

“With rising inflation and mortgage rates squeezing monthly housing budgets, this year’s determined buyers are breathing new life into competition for homes in historic areas like New England. Our 2022 Hottest ZIPs ranking illustrates how many Americans are redefining their priorities to achieve homeownership while building their careers, by trading downtown life for relatively affordable areas with reasonable part-time commutes to big cities,” said Hale.

Based on the stats, the 2022 Hottest ZIP Codes in America, in order, are as follows:

  1. 14618 Brighton, New York
  2. 03062 Nashua, New Hampshire
  3. 43085 Worthington, Ohio
  4. 03038 Derry, New Hampshire
  5. 04062 Windham, Maine
  6. 18017 Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
  7. 37604 Johnson City, Tennessee
  8. 03106 Hooksett, New Hampshire
  9. 02760 North Attleboro, Massachusetts
  10. 04210 Auburn, Maine

If one or more of those zip codes has piqued your interest, Realtor.com is also introducing the new Hot Market Insights tool, which will let prospective buyers know if they’re browsing in a particularly hot market. Users can learn more about the local housing market, including how fast homes are selling and how many more views they get compared to others in the area and in the U.S. These insights are updated each month, which will help provide buyers with a timely view of the competition they’re likely to face when searching for houses and putting in offers.

There’s no telling when the real estate tides might change, but it seems like Realtor.com is making it easier than ever to find just what you’re looking for.
