Made in America: 9 Brands That You’ll Be Surprised Are Still Manufacturing in the USA

Not everything is imported nowadays. There are plenty of companies out there – even some really, really massive ones – who are still making their products domestically, right here in the U. S. of A. In fact, these nine American-made brands might surprise you.

But first, a caveat. There’s a difference between something that’s made and manufactured in the USA, and something that’s made in the USA with foreign parts. Unfortunately, it’s tough to make the distinction, as both can legally be labeled as American-made. So if you like to try and spend your US dollars on American-made goods and you’re unsure, you can research the specific product you have your eye on, or reach out to the manufacturer itself.

These wedding registry staples have come in a rainbow of colors and patterns over the years, but every KitchenAid mixer has been made in Greenville, Ohio, since 1941. NPR did a great story about it.

Many of Crate & Barrel’s sofas and upholstered pieces are made in America today at family-owned workshops the retail giant has partnered with for more than 30 years.

Many of Calphalon’s lines of cookware are made in the USA today, including the popular Unison line. Just look for “Toledo, OH” stamped on the bottom of the pieces.

Many of Kohler’s products are still made in US-based manufacturing locations, but they’re sold mainly at small kitchen and bath showrooms. (The products Kohler stocks to big-box hardware stores are imported, a lot of the time.)

More than 90% of what is sold at Room & Board is American-made. The company collaborates with more than 50 independent partners to create its stock, which you can read about on the Room & Board website.

The cadillac of crayons, most every Crayola product is made in a factory in Easton, Pa. (The one’s that aren’t will say so on the box.) The Crayola website allows you to sort its stock by the “Made in USA” label.

Almost every toy manufactured by Step2 is produced in a facility in Ohio. The company goes above and beyond with its commitment to informed purchasing, though, and provides a detailed list of the labeling origin of most products on its website.

World Kitchen manufacturers Pyrex glassware in several locations across the U.S., but most pieces originate in a facility in Charleroi, Pa., and have since Corning, Inc., began making it in the 1940s.

Nordicware says the vast majority of its kitchenware is made in the USA. Since 1941, the company has made it a practice to keep its manufacturing in the USA on as many items as possible, and detail some of where its materials are sourced on its website.
