Is your house filled with original Matisse pieces throughout? Don’t worry, neither are ours. Not surprising, since original works are usually reserved for museums. But there’s a way to bring the famed painter home, and we’re not talking poster prints.

In 2019, Maison Matisse, founded by the fourth generation of the Matisse family, was formed to showcase the artist’s original technique through a series of limited-edition objects for the home. With the initial launch came vases designed by the Bouroullecs, Jaime Hayon, and Alessandro Mendini. The brand is now launching a new collection, La Musique, which is inspired by the 1939 painting of the same name. It boasts Matisse’s bold color choices, defined lines, and unique patterns.

The ceramic tableware collection was produced in collaboration with designer Marta Bakowski. You can expect that Matisse’s signature imagery, such as a philodendron leaf, silhouettes, geometric lines, will make appearances on the collection’s 14 pieces. The line will include platters, serving bowls, bottles, plates, pitchers, and other table decor.

The collection will be available for sale on Maison Matisse’s website starting April 1. But in the meantime, you can get your Matisse on with this collection of temporary wallpaper inspired by his cutouts.
