There’s nothing quite like making some hot chocolate, curling up on the couch, and getting lost in a holiday movie marathon, especially when you’re watching nostalgic favorites from decades past. In fact, plenty of iconic holiday movies were made in the ‘90s, from “Home Alone” to the Tim Burton animated film “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” But which of these ‘90s classics are the most popular?

To find out, CenturyLinkQuote has discovered the most popular ‘90s Christmas movie in every state, so you can enjoy some festive fun this holiday season. To do so, they compiled a list of 60 Christmas movies from the 1990s by referencing various media publications like Bustle and PopSugar. Then, they used Semrush to determine which 15 movies had the most overall search volume. Finally, they put those 15 movies into Google Trends and ranked them by state search volume in 2022.

This year, “The Santa Clause” wins the top spot for the most-loved Christmas movie in the United States, with 12 states googling it the most. The film stars Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, an ordinary guy who must unexpectedly become the new St. Nicholas. A sequel TV series called “The Santa Clauses” is currently airing on Disney+, which likely helped the popular comedy reach No. 1.

Next on the list is “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” which is the most popular Christmas movie in 10 states — a massive increase from last year, when only one state searched it the most. This sequel to the original “Home Alone” follows young Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) as he once again finds himself facing off against bad guys… in the Big Apple!

In third place is 1996’s “Jingle All the Way,” which was the most-searched ‘90s Christmas film in seven states: Maine, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Other popular ‘90s Christmas movies include “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Home Alone,” and “Jack Frost.”
