We’re asking some of the most stylish people we know for their 2024 Color Crush: the hue that’s lighting up their mood boards and room redos this year. Learn more about the colors they chose, then find more inspiration with our innovative image search, powered by Sherwin-Williams.

Every once in a while, you come across a chameleon color. This kind of hue manages to be many things at once: bold yet grounding, dramatic yet natural, trendy yet timeless. Whatever mood you’re looking to create, it’s somehow just right.

That’s how Apartment Therapy’s editor-in-chief, Kylie McConville, feels about her 2024 Color Crush: Jasper SW 6216 by Sherwin-Williams. It’s a lush and earthy green that can bring the drama or quiet the mind. Deep and dark, Jasper reminds of us old-growth forests and richly appointed libraries (the moodier the better).

Why Kylie Loves Jasper

“I love the way this color adds drama to a room but also anchors it with really cozy, comfortable energy,” Kylie says. “I’m also a huge fan of houseplants for the instant texture they bring to a space, and Jasper feels like such a natural extension of that rich striation you can find in houseplants. I love having that energy and uniqueness represented in my space.”

It’s a new way to think about the bold colors that speak to us. “People are eager to have their spaces represent their personalities, and for me, Jasper really speaks to the desire to show off who I am and what I like at home,” Kylie says. It’s also right in line with this year’s trends: “When Apartment Therapy did our 2024 trend forecasting earlier this year, our style editors noted that it was going to be a year filled with bold colors and maximalist vibes. Jasper feels so in sync with that projection — I want to see it used everywhere!”

In fact, Jasper is great for color drenching: painting all four walls and the ceiling in the same hue for a powerful monochromatic backdrop. “If going all the way with the walls isn’t your thing, Jasper would look awesome on key pieces of furniture that ground the room,” Kylie says. “Picture a rich green couch or a deep, cozy lounge chair. Don’t you just want to spend the day curled up there?”

Colors That Work Well with Jasper

To complement Jasper’s rich and earthy tones, Kylie would pair it with colors that bring their own quiet drama: Riverway SW 6222, a deep teal; Cajun Red SW 0008, a spicy brownish-red; and Appleblossom SW 0076, a delicate but impactful pink. Like Jasper, these are dynamic, versatile hues that could make a bold statement or provide a subtle accent. Together, they’re a dreamy and energizing combo.

People once thought that bold colors like Jasper could drown out a space or make it too busy, but we’re in an era where the opposite is true — and I couldn’t be happier about it!
