I can’t tell if it’s a symptom of old age or climate change, but I overheat way too easily during my sleep. It’s gotten to the point where, until recently, I stopped sleeping under my comforter entirely. Even on the coldest nights of January and February, I would be too warm under a regular duvet, so I slept on top of it with a light quilt over me. My wife, who is a much cooler sleeper, has not loved this development.

So I decided to see if there was a comforter that could work for both my overly warm sleep temperature and my wife’s normal sleep temperature. I found one from Quince (which also made my preferred blanket that happens to be on our Best Bed Blankets List) and it’s been nothing short of delightful. Their lightweight duvet is cool enough for me to be comfortable under it and still cozy enough to keep my wife warm. It’s easily the best comforter I’ve ever tried, and while it’s great to have throughout the year, I especially recommend picking one up now during the summer when you want it the most.

What is the Quince Luxe Goose Down Comforter

This comforter comes in two thickness options: All-Season and Lightweight. The lightweight model has less than 700 down fill inside it, but other than that they have the same baffle box construction — meaning the comforter is made of discrete boxes of fill — the same double-stitched edges, and the same 100 percent cotton sateen outer layer. You can get it in three sizes — twin, full/queen, and king/California king — and it has corner loops you can use to tie your duvet cover and prevent it from moving around. Their heavier All-Season is a great choice if you prefer your bed to be warmer, but if you have any hot-sleeping tendencies I would seriously recommend the Lightweight.

Why I Love the Quince Luxe Goose Down Comforter

The thing I like most about this comforter is simply how easy it is to lift up and move around. One of my biggest pain points with heavier comforters is how they can make me feel almost trapped under them. I had also never encountered a comforter that could be called breathable until I met this one from Quince. It seriously changed my perspective on comforters, and I’m so happy to own it because it gives my wife and me a sleep setup that works for both of us.

Because it’s lighter, this comforter is also easier to clean in the washing machine than my old comforter was. And putting it inside the duvet cover and getting it to lie evenly is actually pretty easy. At $240, it’s also not overly expensive for being such a high-quality bedding essential. You could easily pay twice as much for a comforter that may not work as well as this one does. So when you’re ready to upgrade your duvet to one you’ll love to use for years and years, do yourself a favor and get this lightweight model from Quince.
