Thanksgiving Decor: White Pumpkins

Somehow it turns out Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away. I’m really not sure how that happened. Sandwiched between the bigger media holidays of Halloween and Christmas, I love Thanksgiving for it’s more homey, less-commercial feeling. But because of that, I find I’m always caught by surprise when it’s finally Thanksgiving “season”.

So, as of this post, I will now be in the Thanksgiving spirit. It’s the only holiday at our house where I get the chance to decorate the table for anyone besides my small family. Which is a good thing, because though I love a beautiful tablescape, I don’t really have the personality to make one for our small house, small table, and small family on a regular basis. Our table is more regularly covered with a pile of extra art supplies.
But Thanksgiving brings out the hostess in me! This year I’m particularly smitten with white pumpkins – it’s a beautiful way to embrace traditional natural elements, but in a modern way. Whether you add some gold and fancy bits, or keep it more natural and rustic, the result feels contemporary. Now i just have to find me some pumpkins. Do you set a “tablescape” for Thanksgiving, or is your food the leading lady?
