The warmer months are here, and in the summer sunshine, curb appeal matters more than ever — whether you’re planning on boosting your curb appeal for the sale of your home or you’re in the mood to boost outdoor vibes, you’ll want to get the most bang for your buck when refreshing the space. But what should you buy, exactly, for an outdoor space? What do people want to see?

For Erin E. Bergant Harrod, interior designer and owner of staging company Heartfelt Homespace, feng shui is an important part of home design — including when it comes to your curb appeal. We gave her $200 to spend at Wayfair, and asked her to pick the best items to transform your entryway or front door space.

“This is a fun spring outdoor rug that is mold resistant so made to hold up well for the front porch,” Bergant Harrod says. “You'll also see that it comes in two sizes, though most doors are 36" wide, so I always recommend the larger size of 24" x 36" when it can fit because it's more proportionate to the door itself.” Finding a rug this stylish for such a great price will leave a little room in your budget to put toward fresh flowers in your planters, she also suggests.

Once the doormat is sprucing up the color in your doorway, Bergant Harrod brings in fresh energy — and even more color — with planters for your brightly colored floral faves.

“These cute planters come as a set of two so you can flank the front door or if you don't have enough space for that, you can even put one on the landing and one on the step leading to the door,” she says. “I love these planters because they even have a shelf inside so you're not stuck filling the whole thing with dirt which makes it even heavier to move around. Be sure to consider the amount of sun when selecting flowers to fill the pots and don't be afraid to mix and match colors and textures.”

Now, since you still have a bit more budget to play around with, consider grabbing some lighting for the inside entryway. Tina Priestly, the CEO of Ready, Set, Refresh, would add an eye-catching light fixture.

“Lighting is everything!” Priestly says. “When it comes to staging, good lighting can make all the difference. It sets the mood and creates an inviting atmosphere. This chandelier is both bright and eye-catching. It's sure to add a touch of modern elegance to any space, enhancing colors, textures, and fabrics.”

Already, you’ve offered potential buyers, or even just guests, a colorful and exciting entrance into your home — mixing and matching as needed.
