The pandemic may slowly be coming to a close, but a long year of working at home has taught a lot of companies that offices just… aren’t really necessary. If you think you’ll still be working remotely throughout the summer, why not mix up your home base? These five rentals are available for an entire month this summer — just in case you want a change of scenery. Just imagine all the oohs and aahs from your colleagues over that fancy new background shot on your video calls.

A Treetop Trip

Climb up to the canopy in this two-bedroom, two-bathroom treehouse in Trenton, Georgia. The unique architecture and string lights around the property will make you feel like you’ve entered a magical world where everything else just slips away. The surrounding trees are integrated into the home in unique ways, and in the mornings, you can take your coffee or tea on a short sky bridge to a sunrise perch.

An Island Escape

If you really, really want to get away from everyone while you’re still distancing from the office, why not rent an entire island? This affordable private island in Poulsbo, Washington, might be just what you need. Have s’mores for dessert every night at your own private campfire, spend the weekends out on the lake kayaking, grill basically every meal — and if you stay more than four nights with your family, you can shuttle the kids to their own island cabin that has two beds of its own. The island is only accessible by a private tethered ferry from the mainland, where you’ll have to leave your car. And just a word to the wise, there’s no wi-fi — so maybe schedule some time off work or bring a portable internet device.

Vintage Wine Country

Bring your wine glass with you to this vintage trailer rental on a vineyard in Ramona, California. You’ll technically be glamping for the month — the remodeled 1964 Oasis trailer has an adorably pink vintage stove and working sink inside, but the bathroom is outside the trailer and shared. Proximity to vineyards will likely make up for this; you’re literally parked right next to one at Hatfield Creek Winery. You’ll also have a private patio with a tassel-lined awning. This spot doesn’t have internet either, so pack a hotspot.

A Mountain Getaway

Get a little posh and rustic for a month with a fully outfitted log cabin in the North Carolina mountains. This Bryson City cabin has one bedroom, one bathroom, and a long porch with rocking chairs to take in expansive views of the Great Smoky Mountains. There’s also a flat-screen, a hot tub, two fireplaces, laundry facilities, and a grill. Get a pet sitter, though; no pups are allowed in the house.

A Coastal Condo

For a chic coastal escape, book a month at this penthouse condo in Shelter Cove, California. The one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom spot sits right above the water at Little Black Sands Beach, with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. The hot tub on the balcony is the perfect spot to watch for wildlife on the coast — and we’re talking the most adorable wildlife: otters, sea lions, foxes, deer, and even whales out in the water. Plus, you can expect a stunning sunset pretty much every night.
