Looking For A Large Area Rug? This Home Depot Hack on TikTok Will Save You Some Money
If you’ve ever been on the hunt for an area rug to cozy up your space, then you’ve seen how big those price tags can get. Depending on its brand and the material, you could easily spend over $1,000 on a single rug. But if that kind of purchase just isn’t in the cards, one TikTok user shared a great hack to maximize coziness without blowing your entire budget.
“So this is a hack if you’re looking to purchase a really large rug,” TikTok user @sydiruth said in their January video. “This [rug], in particular, is 8 feet by 12 [feet] and it’s actually carpet.”
They continued, “At Home Depot, you can request pre-rolled carpet. This cost me 90 bucks. Typically a rug of this size is going to cost you about $250 to $275.”
Of course, this is only a good option for those who are looking for something soft under the feet and not an intricately designed, patterned area rug. But for that price, these pre-rolled carpets are hard for anyone to pass up.
@Sydiruth added that the carpets that are already cut and available for same-day purchase are the ones that will have bound edges, which means you may not be able to get the exact size you’re looking for. She also noted that they were originally going for a 7-foot by 12-foot, but the 8-foot rug was all Home Depot had in stock.
According to the comments section, other hardware stores offer the same thing, and sometimes you can even find cheaper pre-rolled carpets at carpet retailers. “The carpet and flooring places sell them cheaper from scraps they know they can never use,” one comment suggested. “We got a [9-foot by 11-foot] for $10!”
