Why I Purchased a Travel Makeup Case for Daily Home Use
Ever since I assembled my “beauty closet” a few months ago, I became even more obsessed with trying out new products, as I finally has dedicated space to store everything. Seriously, being able to open a cabinet door and see lotions and sprays lined up in front of me—instead of rummaging through a random bin or drawer in search of that one particular dry shampoo—turned out to be a game-changer.
That said, I still wasn’t sure just how to store smaller beauty products, like undereye serums and lip balm, within this larger cabinet. These were items that I like to have accessible and really should be using every day (hello, undereye bags), so they deserved a front and center center spot. But I was afraid things would look too cluttered or junky-looking, so I was a bit skeptical about lining up these compact items on a shelf.
But then came this magical makeup case. At just $20 on Amazon Prime, I knew I couldn’t go wrong. I was actually influenced by a few bloggers on Instagram who were raving about it before I decided to order my own. Now, I’m so glad I found it, it’s the best.
Whether you need something heavy-duty for travel, or are like me, and just want to better organize your daily supplies, this solution is worth a try. Basically, it’s a lunchbox-shaped case with different compartments and dividers that you can move around based on your storage needs. For example, if you’re looking to store long eyeliner pencils rather than a jumbo-sized collection of Chapstick, you totally could—you just need to set up the inside accordingly.
Below are a few different ways I’ve laid out my case:
This is how I traditionally store everything—there’s a compartment for lip balms, another one for mascaras, one for undereye products, etc.
If I’d rather store longer lip glosses, it’s easy enough to rearrange the dividers. Moving things around created the perfect little nook to stash extra hair ties.
I also love that if I did decide to use this for travel, there are also pockets for makeup brushes (you can just grab ‘em and throw them right into a side zipper compartment). The only thing that’s stopped me from bringing this on every vacation is that I generally don’t check luggage and therefore just end up going the “stick makeup in a plastic baggie and call it a day” route. However, I could totally see packing this for a wedding or another occasion where I do plan to get totally glammed up and want to have a wide variety of products on hand. It could also serve as a toiletry organizer when traveling with multiple children—everyone gets two or three compartments of their own, and everything is easily accessible in one place. And if you really want to think outside the box, I could totally see the benefits of using a case like this for crafting, sewing supplies, jewelry storage, and much more.
