This Ice Cream Company Wants To Send You To the Sunniest Place on Earth, Now That It’s No Longer Daylight Saving
Daylight Saving Time ending (aka. the checkpoint at which many people’s seasonal affective disorder (SAD) comes back from vacation) went into effect on November 6, and the darkness is already overwhelming. So, to make life during standard time a bit sweeter, Halo Top Ice Cream wants to send one person to one of the sunniest place in the world to beat their seasonal depression.
Through the brand’s #LightenUp campaign, Halo Top Creamery has opened up a giveaway in which one lucky entrant will win a trip to Rio de Janiero, Brazil. But there’s a catch — to enter, fans must submit their entries in after sunset.
If you head over to the Halo Top entry page during the day, you’ll see a countdown to sunset in your area and a message that reads: “Sun’s out! That means you have approximately exactly this long before night falls and the entry period opens. Go soak up some rays and come back at sunset. The prizes aren’t going anywhere just yet.”
But when night falls (at, like, 4:15 p.m. …), you can enter your name and email address for a chance to win the Rio getaway. You can continue to enter after sunset each day of the giveaway, which runs from November 6 through 20.
For those who don’t win the grand prize, you can still grab some free Halo Top Creamery ice cream. The company is rollig out light-up ice cream trucks nationwide that will tour the country and give out free Halo Top scoops to help you cope with the winter gloom.
You can check to see if a Halo Top truck will be in your city by following the Halo Top Instagram page.
As soon as the sun sets, head over to Halo Top Creamery’s entry page to take part in the Rio vacation getaway. Then turn on your light therapy lamp to ward off the SAD for as long as possible.
