Prize: A Year of Free Rent
From: The new CBS comedy 9JKL, premiering Monday, Oct. 2 at 8:30/7:30c
Value: $12,000

It’s probably safe to say that most of us never anticipate moving back in with our folks, but it can happen for all kinds of reasons. Maybe your neighborhood got hot and your landlord jacked up the rent. Maybe you’re trying to figure out where to go (on multiple levels) after a breakup. Or maybe you’re just trying to save some money for the right place of your own.

Whatever the reason might be, before you pack your bags and prepare to sleep under the watchful eyes of your faded boy-band posters, you could have your next 12 months of rent (that’s $12,000 for the year) paid for by the new CBS comedy premiering this Fall, 9JKL.

Mark Feuerstein, the show’s executive producer and star, can relate. Several years ago, while shooting a television show in New York, the actor lived in an apartment next door to his parents. Feuerstein survived that period and its mortifying experiences and used them as inspiration for 9JKL. Mark invited us on set for a tour of the three titular apartments featured on the show, numbers 9J, 9K, and 9L. Watch it above!

On the show, Feuerstein’s character, Josh Roberts, learns some things while wedged in the apartment between his well-meaning (but ugh-inducing) parents and his competitive brother. To wit: There can be some great things about living with your folks, like pretending you’ve found the one Airbnb with the exact same action figures you had as a kid or realizing your mom would probably still be willing to read you a bedtime story. But there are some downsides, like your folks walking in as you and your date are rounding second base. Or worse, you walking in when they’re rounding second base. (It’s OK if you need to walk outside and slam your head in the car door until you forget about that last thing).

Sure, there are ways to avoid moving back home, provided that you have a lot (A LOT) of friends with comfortable couches, or you manage to build a time machine and can convince your great-grandmother to hook up with one of the lesser Vanderbilts. (You deserved a trust fund, and you know it.)

Or you could enter this sweepstakes, which gives one lucky winner a check for a full year’s rent (that’s $1,000 for 12 months, or $12,000 total for the year), so you can live in a bedroom that doesn’t have your third grade picture hanging in it. That’s a full 12 months for you to save for something else and figure out what’s next.
