As many couples are finally getting to exchange vows with loved ones after two years of delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it might be top of mind to find the perfect gift for the soon-to-be newlyweds in your life. The wedding pros at Zola have shared their top gifting trends for 2022, and it’s clear that couples are adding plenty of personal touches to their registries ahead of their much-awaited celebrations.

In data shared with Apartment Therapy, the brand revealed that couples getting hitched this year are all about personalization when it comes to their weddings — and their registries are no exception. As the top registry category year after year, dinnerware is always a coveted item, but trending for 2022 is reactive, patterned, or textured dinnerware alongside colored flatware sets and drinkware. And instead of asking for specialized drinkware sets for each potential need (i.e.: water glasses, highball glasses, old fashioned glasses, wine glasses, etc.), couples are on the hunt for versatile glassware that’s fancy enough for drinks with friends but suitable for a weeknight dinner for two.

Couples are also tailoring their asks towards their niche tastes, hobbies, interests, and entertainment styles, increasingly asking for dish-specific appliances and serveware, such as ice cream makers, ramen bowls, sushi serving sets, and pizza platters.

Experience-related gifts are back in full swing, with plenty of couples requesting luggage and travel accessories like packing cubes, Airbnb gift cards, and cash funds inspired by bucket-list trips, and accessories for outdoor fun (such as grills, outdoor furniture, and fire pits) as well as pet accessories continue to trend upward.

Still, when it comes to gift-giving, the classics continue to reign supreme, even though the Zola pros note a shift in color trends. In recent years, shades of blue and white have dominated the wedding registry, but these days, green is the top color couples are coveting — surely growing in popularity thanks to trendy picks like the jewel-toned Le Creuset Artichaut and the retro-inspired KitchenAid Pistachio shade.

Of course, any gift that comes from the heart will surely be appreciated, especially after navigating wedding planning during such uncertain times. You’ll never go wrong with shopping the registry, and they’ll think of you every time they whip out their ice cream maker or brightly-hued stand mixer.
