Why we have a crush on this property

An adorable house is for sale on one of the most charming islands on earth, which means cuteness levels are off the chart here.

Behold this 1870s gingerbread cottage on Martha’s Vineyard. Tucked between equally adorable little homes in the town of Oak Bluffs, the tiny, 687-square foot abode is not only cute, but rare for the market.

It’s part of a historic cottage community called the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association, a grouping of more than 300 antique gingerbread-style homes. The colorful neighborhood dates back to the early 1800s—it was formed as a religious camp and the cottages are built around a central tabernacle. Now, the area is a National Historic Landmark District mostly inhabited by seasonal residents.

This cottage in particular is in a lovely spot, steps from the ferry landing, beaches, and downtown Oak Bluffs. Outside, decorative trim and weathered shingles make for unparalleled curb appeal, while a covered porch and second-floor balcony look out to the very idyllic community.

Inside, its antique charms reveal themselves in the form of decorative wall cut-outs and beamed ceilings. And though the place is more than a century old, a recent renovation graced the house with a new roof, a stone patio, and outdoor shower, and a propane heater that’ll allow for spring and autumn enjoyment.

This timeless treasure is listed for $435,000 by Helena Kirschenbaum with RE/MAX On Island.
