It’s called “house hunting,” but sometimes a home miraculously finds you. At least that’s what happened for content creator Hannah O’Brien; her husband, Harrison; and their dog, Ruby.

The couple had been living with Hannah’s parents for three years while searching for a house to purchase, but the competitive market wasn’t yielding much luck. One day, they saw their dream home — a two-bedroom 1840s house with loads of charm — pop up on their real estate portal. Unfortunately, it was snatched up before they could even request a tour.

“Houses were selling like hot cakes,” Hannah remembers. However, as luck would have it, the original deal fell through, which gave Hannah and Harrison a second chance at their dream home. They moved quickly, touring and submitting an offer that same day. It was accepted two days later.

“We loved the exposed beams, original windows, and wide plank flooring. It was really well-maintained but just needed some tender loving care and personality,” Hannah says. “We didn’t want a turnkey home and knew this house would be the perfect balance of modern comfort but also room for improvement, so we could move in right away and slowly work on it over time.”

The move-in process was easy, and the couple actually met the previous owner before settling in. The former homeowner didn’t live there, so their neighbors were pleased that someone was living in the house. The couple spent the first year settling in.

However, it’s been two years since the couple moved in, and they have completed several home projects, which Hannah shares on her TikTok. What was once a dream has become a stunning, cozy, and unique reality — Hannah, Harrison, and their neighbors are all happy that they bought this beautiful home.
