The debate of whether white and gray cabinets are fab or drab will never get old (okay, sometimes it totally does, but curiosity continues to prevail). Many say neutral cabinets are going to be in style for eternity, but HGTV expert Anita Corsini, host of HGTV’s new series “Flipping Showdown,” says that their popularity is as good as shag carpeting (read: gone).

In a recent interview with Apartment Therapy, when asked about future kitchen cabinet trends, Corsini is extremely hopeful for warm palettes to take over the popularity contest — as a result, kicking whites and grays to the curb.

“Eventually, the white and gray cabinet is going to die out, and I see things going back to a warm palette,” Corsini revealed. “I’m wondering if there’s going to be some blonde wood or light wood.”

It’s no secret that opting for a natural wood can bring coziness into a kitchen while keeping things clean and simple. But if you don’t want to touch your neutral-painted cabinets, you can always bring the warmth of wood into your space through countertops, floors, walls, and accessories.

Speaking of accessories, another trend Corsini sees continuing to be in the spotlight is incorporating gold accents — or as she calls it, bling — into the kitchen, which plays into the whole idea of leaning into a warm palette. But why stop in the kitchen when you can deck the whole house in subtle-yet-charming gold details? A little metallic never hurt.

So next time you’re looking to refresh your kitchen, think about warming up your space with some wood cabinets and gold accents. A little warmth can go along way, especially during these cold winter months.
