Why we have a crush on this property
When scrolling through Zillow, coming across a time capsule house feels a bit like finding a unicorn. Somehow, they’ve managed to evade updates for decades, meaning they still flaunt their ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s charms. This time capsule house for sale in Savannah brims with the flairs of yesteryear — and then some.
Built in 1953, the Mediterranean-style ranch looks cheery from the outside — citrus trees in the front yard add to its sunny appeal. But inside, the home is a window into the 1970s, with wood paneling, funky carpets, and wallpaper recalling retro designs.
The best part of the place, in my humble opinion, is the kitchen. Bright green cabinets, fluorescent lighting overhead, laminate floors, and a vintage porcelain kitchen sink are a few standout features. The kitchen’s breakfast bar overlooks a carpeted dining area, complete with more wood paneling and fluorescent lights.
Elsewhere in the house, you’ll find other remnants of the ‘60s and ‘70s. The living room is the perfect place for a sturdy wood hutch, while the bedrooms offer more space for big furniture sets and drapes. The formal dining room also makes room for a rather large ‘70s dining set, as well as a credenza and several china cabinets.
To top it off, the property has an in-law suite, a detached garage with a workshop, and a sizable backyard. It all comes to a mere $199,000, listed by Donald Callahan with Keller Williams Realty Coastal Area Partners. You can see the full listing here.
