Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I’m Alex and my husband’s name is Jon, the creators of our tiny home. While I had the vision for the home and design, Jon brought the vision to life. Our first tiny home endeavor was in 2016. We ditched our $30k,000 wedding and decided to travel the U.S. for three months instead in our 19-foot renovated camper. This trip changed our life. At that point we were two college graduates with no idea what we wanted to do. This adventure sparked our love for freedom.

When we came back from our trip I knew I would never want to work a 9-5 and be constrained to the walls of an office. Jon knew he wanted to create a business. Since 2016 our goals have aligned towards these dreams. Somewhere in between we bought a four-bedroom house and right away felt the constraints of such a big space. So we decided to rent out our 2,000 square-foot house and create our second tiny home on wheels. Two years later we are living the dream. Jon and his business partner have created a thriving real estate enterprise while I work virtually at my dream job as a virtual health coach for an app in NYC. Now we live in our 240-square-foot space, which is perfect for our lifestyle!

Fun fact about our camper: Jon and I love a good deal. I found our camper on Craigslist with no pictures. I took the risk and had a friend drive five hours away to pick up this camper with no interior pictures for $3,000. This could have totally backfired but it ended up being the perfect fit! Beside no oven.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Boho, desert, eclectic, western

What is your favorite room and why? The living space, which includes the kitchen, dining, and living room. I love it because it’s all we need! When we were in our 2000-square-foot house we realized most of our time was spent in the kitchen. We even had a couch right next to the kitchen to hang out! Most of how we entertain and date each other is around cooking together. I love it!

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? Definitely have an oven! That has been the hardest part since I love to cook. We have a toaster oven under our cabinet right now.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I bought for our house was a 99-cent accordion rack from Goodwill. I love a good thrift and most of the items in our home have been from our house, thrifted, or found for a really good deal.

Any advice for creating a home you love? TIP 1: BE INSPIRED! Many times I’ve gone into creating a space worried that I was “copying” Pinterest or not being authentic. Every time I found the final project to be a reflection of my own unique style with my own twist! TIP 2: FIND YOUR BRAND! Choose a color scheme and stick with it! It helps the space flow.
