Why we have a crush on this property:

Even at an aerial view, you’d notice something different about this home. Among all the standard gable roofs dotting the St. Petersburg waterfront, two perfectly rounded roofs stand out like a pair of bright circles, marking this address from above. Zoom in and you’ll realize they’re even cooler up close: The geodesic dome homes are made of poured concrete, which not only looks neat but makes them more energy efficient and less susceptible to hurricane damage.

Ensconced behind modern fencing and decade-old bamboo growth, the main dome opens up to a mid-century modern interior. A wood-paneled wall offsets the white, soaring ceilings (25 feet, to be exact), and lantern-light light fixtures and neon green cabinetry add a vibrant splash of color. The room curves around a spiral staircase, allowing for separate wedges for a dining room, “The Jetsons”-esque living room, and kitchen.

In total, the home makes room for thee light-filled bedrooms and two full bathrooms. If that’s not quite enough space, though, worry not: There is a second dome on the premises. Go through the glass doors and make the 10-second commute down the concrete path to the second circular home. This one is a studio, ideal as a guest home or in-law apartment, that comprises a kitchenette, bathroom, and spacious living area all under lofty 16-foot ceilings.

Despite the igloo-like look of these homes, they’re situated at the very southern tip of Florida — so you could hit the beach and return to your cool, cave-y home filled with sunshine in the same day.
