Why we have a crush on this property

Houseboats have a reputation for being tiny, somewhat cramped, and downright adorable. But this one for sale in the seaside town of Fairhaven, Mass., isn’t small at all — it’s huge (and still adorable). The floating abode is as big as any house on land, with the added benefits of harbor views and a deck for lounging.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home measures 1,820 square feet. It’s anchored by a spacious living room with a wood stove, exposed ceiling beams, and sliding glass doors that lead to the deck. There’s also an eat-in kitchen, a separate formal dining room, another sizable family room, and a walk-in pantry. Several of the houseboat’s living spaces are clad in wooden beadboard, upping the ante on its nautical feel.

Upstairs, there’s a home office overlooking the water, as well as a washer and dryer. The bedrooms offer closets, while the two full bathrooms boast linen storage, too.

For sailors on the move, the home comes with a barge so it can be transported to another marina, explains listing agent Jan MacGregor. There’s also the possibility to take the house off the barge and put it on land. This one-of-a-kind find is listed for $309,000 with Howe Allen Realty.
