Laura Seed bought this apartment for herself and her two rescue cats two months ago after a divorce. “Being my first place since being single, I decided to go for my first apartment, living my best single life (think: Sex and the City vibes). I moved to a new city after falling in love with this loft — and since moving in two months ago, I have been making it fully mine,” Laura explains.

"I opted for a corner sofa the opposite way round so it sticks out into the middle of the room to help divide the space," Laura explains. The throw blankets are a mix from TKMaxx, HomeSense, Dunelm, PRIMARK, and Oliver Bonas. The mirror is IKEA, and the rug is George at Asda. "The drinks cabinet was from eBay; I looked for years to source it."

She describes this loft — a one-bedroom, 506-square-foot space she shares with her cats, Boris and Weenie — as a safe place. “I eat here, work here, and sleep here so it was important to me that it felt like somewhere I could spend infinite time, feel inspired in, and just feel safe and happy. I feel so incredibly lucky that this is my space,” she writes.

Laura describes herself as a “colorful person who gives my all to life, and I feel that is hugely reflected in my space.” The home, located in Preston, England, is filled with color, plants, prints, and secondhand furniture. Lighting is very important to her, so there are some neon signs for mood lighting and vibes, too.

"The last thing I bought was actually a neon sign that says ‘let’s stay home’."

It’s very different to all the other lofts now in this building, which were built very unified, and I’m so proud to call it home. It is a place that not only brings me joy, but also joy to everyone who visits. I have a pegboard where I add Polaroids from everyone’s visits. I feel I dress in the way I decorate my home and can often be found matching it. I feel that if you saw my home, and then me in a lineup, you would absolutely know it belonged to me.

Thanks, Laura!
