Why we have a crush on this property

If you try to picture what houses in New Mexico look like, you probably think of reddish-orange adobe dwellings, like this Southwestern charmer with incredible mountain views. But that’s not all this desert state is known for. Case in point? This rare Victorian for sale in Silver City.

Far from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, Silver City is a college town, home to Western New Mexico University and lots of Wild West history. So it makes sense that an 1890s specimen (and the property’s old stable) would survive here—and boy have its period details been preserved.

Step inside to be greeted by exposed brick walls, stained glass transom windows, and pressed tin ceilings. Multiple marble fireplaces can be found throughout the home, while soaring ceilings, huge windows, and shining hardwoods add to the place’s vintage appeal.

The newly renovated kitchen, however, is a welcome change of pace from the home’s century-old elements. Brazilian granite countertops are paired with top-of-the-line appliances like a Kutch professional series stove and hood, a Bosch refrigerator, and an Electrolux dishwasher. Similarly, the home’s bathrooms are beautifully updated with stunning tile work, rainfall shower heads, and clawfoot soaking tubs.

This extra special home is listed by Dan Cook with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Silver City, for $593,000.
